PRACTICE REVIEW 11/11 (baritones)

Today's prac was at SSCC, since o lvls were going on.

Congrats guys, we are the first section to finish the whole song. :)

However today's discipline was really not something to be proud of. During sectionals, when any SL is talking, please LISTEN. It is very annoying to keep singing the same part over and over again, but then you still won't get it because you were talking and not listening. If you need me to go slower, just point it out. But when any SL is taking sectionals, just LISTEN WHEN THEY ARE TALKING/SINGING. You know how chaotic sectionals were. Next practice i hope there will be an improvement in discipline.

Moving on to Yagi Bushi:

Apparently our melody lines are being drowned out by the other dah-ing sections. Thus, all those parts have to come out much more:
bar 15 - ba ku to chu ji no
bar 32 - ni ju go sa i wa
bar 38 - o to ni ki ko e ta
bar 44 - mu shi wo ko ra e te
bar 66 - sa re ba ko re ka ra

Also, the notes which have a <> on top of them have to be accented (e.g. bar 10 - dah).

Bar 88 - 90 is possibly the hardest part of the song. The timing is weird and so are the jumps (for bass 1). For bass 1s, bar 88 - C3, bar 89 - Gb3, bar 90 - F3.

For bar 89, the rhythm is like that if you count in quavers:

1--- -2---- 3-----4-- 5-- 6---- 7 --- 8
dah s-ko dah dah__ dah s-ko dah

Take note that bar 91 and 93 are different. Bass 1s it's ok if you cannot reach, it's fairly high.

REVISE ALL THE LYRICS FROM BAR 76 - 87. All the lyrics are written in the previous practice review, so if you can't see the lyrics in the score, copy them down.

On saturday we will be revising through a bit of Yagi Bushi before moving on to De Profundis Clamavi. If you have problems with Yagi Bushi you can look for me after prac.

There are only 80 spots available for SYF. The current choir has 86 members. Including next year's Sec1s, everyone will audition for the 80 spots. Also if you are not competent enough, you will not get a spot, even if the whole SYF team doesn't make up 80 people. Every member has to contribute to the choir. It's a team effort, not a one-man show. With that in mind i hope you will take every practice seriously. And trust me, the new song is not easy. You have to have 100% focus during practice.

P.S. Really.
