Hi guys. Hope you enjoyed camp. :)
Here is prac review for the pracs in the camp. Sorry it wasn't posted yesterday, i fell asleep when i reached home and slept all the way until today. :P
Keep in the middle of the road (T2s):
This song is fairly easy; the melody keeps repeating itself. But the lyrics do not. So learn up your lyrics.
The first verse of the song (i hear them angels calling loud) is at a moderate speed.
The second verse (i ain't got time for to stop and talk) is fast.
The third verse (this world am full of sinful things) is slow.
This interpretation is derived from the lyrics.
If you don't know by now, the order of the song is:
Page 1 to 10,
Page 4 (Refrain) to 7,
Page 11 to 13,
and Page 4 (Refrain) to 7.
For this song, you have to be more confident of your parts. The notes are very easy, there are no weird jumps and the rhythm is very straightforward. Don't be afraid of singing out. We can only help you correct your mistakes if we can hear you. If not, then you might not know your parts at all. There were only 6 T2s at the camp. Especially when there are less people, you all have to sing out more.
The Wind (baritones)
This is the SYF set piece. It is NOT easy at all. But once you grasp the rhythm its fine. We have finished until page 7 only. Concentrate on those parts and practice at home. The midi file can be found at www.reverbnation.com/kellytang. However that midi file is SATB plus piano, and the piano part is a bit too loud. So i will do one soon for TBB (ti-babi) individual sections. For now just practice what you can. :)
Reminder again, not everyone will be included in the SYF team. There are 86 members in the choir, and we can only have 80 spots. Including next year's Sec1s, there will be more than 86 members. If your standard is not good enough, you may not be included in the SYF team, and also, the 80 spots don't necessarily have to be fully filled up. SYF is only 5 months away. And that is not far. For SYF two years ago, at this point in time, we have already started adding in dynamics and expressions into the songs. So work hard and learn your songs properly.
We will be conducting 1 on 1s soon. You can contact me if you need help. (I'm very free and am bored of rotting at home most of the time.) If you don't have my number you can ask your SLs. :D
